I'm an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. My research interests range from marketing history to social media marketing to marketing in the Arts & Culture sector. I am researching the role of cultural intermediaries in popularizing the work Canadian artist, Tom Thomson. Over 100 years after his death, why are we still so fascinated by him? At one time, almost every young woman either had or hoped to have a 'hope chest' to help her prepare for marriage. How were these chests marketed and why are they no longer popular? PhD student Erin Barkel and I have been working on this research.
