Motivations for Thrift Clothing Shopping

I am researching the role of cultural intermediaries in popularizing the work Canadian artist, Tom Thomson. Over 100 years after his death, why are we still so fascinated by him? This image is my favorite of his works: Moose at Night. Click the link to see a presentation I gave at the Carleton University Art Gallery

At one time, almost every young woman either had or hoped to have a 'hope chest' to help her prepare for marriage. How were these chests marketed and why are they no longer popular? PhD student Erin Barkel and I have been working on this research. MSc student Katie Vanderby is working on this study with me as part of her Sprott Undergraduate Summer Research Experience Internship. The project started out as a video that Katie and her teammates created for BUSI 4209 Consumer Culture Theory. Click the link to watch that video.
